Whitfield Presses Energy Secretary Moniz for Commitment on Paducah DOE Site

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, today pressed the Department of Energy Secretary (DOE) Ernest Moniz to decide on a long-term solution for the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant that maximizes long-term job retention and growth in Paducah. Whitfield used his position as Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power to pressure Moniz on the issue.
Specifically, Whitfield called on Moniz to maintain the viability of the jobs at the DOE site in Paducah. He also urged them to move forward as quickly as possible on an expression of interest from private sector companies looking to utilize the site’s assets to retain and create jobs in Paducah.
